Follow Friday [10]: 2014 Can't Wait for Books (part II)

This meme is hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read.

I got my wires crossed last week and answered this question early. Opps. But, this week I had a little extra time, so I was actually able to expand my list of one to ten. From historical fiction to a whole lot of contemporary, here are some of the books that I'm most excited for in 2014.

Q: What books are you looking forward to reading in 2014?

If want to follow me, any which way will make me do the happy dance.

Follow Friday [9]: 2014 Can't Wait for Book

This week has been crazy for many reason. One, I've dealt with some crazy family issues. My grandma, who died this past year, had her SSN stolen. I've had to help my grandpa deal with the fallout and trying to solve the issues that this has caused. This resulted of a lot of time on hold. On a better note, I've been trying to pick up my studying of French again. Very slowly though. I'm glad it's Friday! Hope you've a great weekend, my dears :D

What books are you looking forward to reading in 2014?

Deluge (River of Time #4) by Lisa Tawn Bergren

The final installment of the River of Time series is coming out this year. *takes moment to fangirl* AHHHHHHHHHH! Set in medieval Italy, this series is full of suspense, family bonding, swoon worthy males, tough heroines, and a lot of adventures. It may actually be my favorite YA series. I can't wait to read the final book in the series -- hopefully with a reread of the others first -- though it will be bittersweet when I finally finish.

There is many more books that I'm eargerly awaiting. But mostly, I'm excited to pick up some old-but-new-to-me-series that everyone else raves about. I love the VA books, so starting the Bloodlines series makes that list. So does the Slammed series by Colleen Hoover.

Follow Friday [8]: Resolutions

my First Follow Friday of the 20 FOURTEEN year, FTW. Sorry (but not really) about that -- I'm a bit hyper. And excited to be back with this awesome meme.

Resolutions: Put together your blogger resolution list for all of us to see!

I already put together a list of bookish resolutions for TTT, which you can see here. But that mostly focused on books. As far as blogging goes: This year it'd be great if I could blog at least two-three times a week. Improving my html/css skills would be an amazing accomplishments. But mostly, I just want to have fun and keep blogging low key.

I want to make this the year of catching up on sequels. The more series I can knock off of my TBR list, the happier I'll be.

Follow Friday [7]: Bookshelf Tour

This meme is hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read

Q: New Feature! Bookshelf Tour. Give us a tour of your bookshelf.

A: I've one bookshelf packed to it's gills. I plan on marrying a manly man that can build me a nice big one. So that I can display them easily and actually give them some form of organization. *sigh* That would be lovely. Anyway, if you want the 'official tour' carry on:

This is for stuff animals that I cannot bear to part with, and you cannot see this, but it also holds my box set of the Little House on the Prairie books.

And then, on the next shelf, lots and lots of paperbacks. I have a ton of books by Lurlene McDaniels. Her books are some of the books that first got me started reading.

The next two shelves have a lot of my current reads on them. And even though they aren't really sortied, I do have most of my paranormal books together. If you squint, you can see the Twilight series, Nightshade series, Hush, Hush & hidden is all my VA series.

The next shelf is a stack of random books that I hardly ever pick up (including Chemistry for Dummies), but I cannot give them up. At least not yet.
Then the last shelf holds all my photo albums and of course my disney VHS movies.

And because I love movies almost as much as books, my DVD shelf:

Follow Friday [6]: learned about blogging?

This meme is hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read.

Q: Share something you’ve learned about book blogging or just blogging in general in the last month.

A: I know this may sound basic, but I've learned the joys and ease of pre-making post. Less stress and when you are in the creative mood, you can knock two or three different post out.

Follow Friday [5]: DNF?

This meme is hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read.

Q: How do you handle a book you don’t like? Do you DNF or do you power through?

A: I wish I could say that I power through because sometimes that is rewarding. Usually if I'm not enjoying a book, I end up trying to read a few more pages, but then my mind starts wander....

And when that happens, I'm doomed for a DNF.

Books I Found Worth the Push:

  • The Secret Garden
  • Wuthering Heights
  • The Good Earth

Books That I Eventually Want to Continue (but are currently DNF):

  • A Tale of Two Cities

What was your answer? Link up in the comments and I'll be sure to drop by.

Q: Book Vacay: Where is the best destination reading spot for you? (Where do you like to go to read other then your home)

A: My absolute favorite place to read is at the beach. Chair at the edge of the water, feet in the sand, ocean breeze blowing, and a good book equals peace and happiness.

Let's all sigh together on three...one...two...three....*sigh* Paradise.

a hammock is pretty nice too. And a lot cheaper.

Where is your favorite spot?

Happy reading :)

Follow Friday [2]

This meme is hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read.

Q: Today’s is the US’ Independence Day. Share your favorite book with a war in it, or an overthrow of the government.

A: I guess I haven't read that many war books. Two dystopias about over throwing the government come to my mind though:

Uglies The Hunger Games

The Uglies Triology may not exactly fall into this catgory. But they're dealing with some corrupt governmental people so I included it.

One serious book about war that I read in high school for requred reading was The Things They Carried. It has been a while since I've read this, but I remember it was a very heavy, raw, and intense read.

What did you choose? Feel free to follow via bloglovin' or linky :)

Follow Friday [1]

This meme is hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

This is my first time participating in this Follow Friday meme. Tis' always a good thing to make new book-loving, blogger friends.

Okay on to the question:

Q: What is your preferred format? Hardcover, eBooks, paperback, etc?

A: I have an addiction to reading on or near water. Something about water and books (and occasionally sun) goes together, don'tcha agree? On a float in the pool, toes in the sand at the ocean, or yes even the bathtub, I can be found with a book in my hand. So in the summertime, I prefer formats that can get a little wet. I usually remove the slip if it is hardback cause I don't like to mess those up. But actual pages are fair game to get a bit damp.

However, I love the flexabiltity and easy of eBooks. I also like the fact that nobody can judge you for your book choice because they cant see the title or cover. And I am a sucker for the .99 cent deals that I see on amazon.

Be sure to follow me through bloglovin', GFC, or linky. Leave a comment and I'll be sure to follow back :)

Happy hopping!
